SUNDAY AT CROOKE

Yesterday we rode our bikes to the open house to check on the building. Not much to report other than the fact that it really needs a good cleaning - I think the workers there are real slobs.

It was a beautiful day. We rode through Prospect Park on our way to the building and saw a glimpse of what we will be living near. There were people walking, biking, roller blading, horse back riding, picnicking, grilling, ball playing, bird watching and kite flying. It was great.

We were thinking about some of the comments people have made on this blog about the neighborhood surrounding 34 Crooke - that it's "bad" and "scary" and we couldn't understand what these people are talking about. Have these people been to other parts of NY City?! What we see is a quiet, tree-lined street near beautiful, historic Victorian homes steps away from one of the best parks in the city. The only noises we heard were cheers coming from the many baseball games down the block at the Parade Grounds. I know that there are "nicer" areas in Brooklyn but come on!

After the open house we went to Shenanigans Pub located at 802 Caton Ave. It's a small neighborhood bar that we have wanted to check out. By bike it's only a couple minutes away from 34 Crooke. They have outside tables in the back "garden." It was OK, nicer than I was expecting actually. I can see us coming here now and then for a drink, we just wish their selection of tap beer was better.

I agree. We were just there around 7 and stayed till 9 pm.. Walked to Crooke fom my home and it was quiet. Great walk.

The lobby area is staged finally. It looks great. It is painted and they even added extra seating. Looks like we could have a little bar there as well. You'll see what I mean. We met the design team and they were very nice. I think they are not finished as they said they would be back.. Boy does it look great in the evening.

I feel like I am finally home.. Its a great building. Not a "scary" neighborhood at all.

The gym is nice.. I looked at the building with a fresh set of eyes. I dont have an offering plan anymore so I dont know about the doorman thing but I guess that is something for us owners to discuss when we all have closed and there is more than a few people living in the building.
