We spent our Sunday in the neighborhood - we stopped by the open house and spent the afternoon in the park.
It looks like they actually have been working on the building. It's still not done (of course) but they are putting a new floor in the gym and the holes in the stairwell walls have been fixed (part of the sprinkler system issues?) There were actually people there working during the open house! A first as far as I know. The "tree" has also been planted in front, hope it survives...
What's the deal with that mess of dangling cables in the entryway? I'm assuming that's for the intercom system so why don't they hook it up already! It looks awful but more importantly, they should make sure IT WORKS.
After the open house we went to
CAFÉ ENDURO for lunch. we've been wanting to try this place and we were not disappointed. The food was pretty good and quite reasonable. Our only complaint would be that the service was friendly but very, very slow. I got a chicken quesadilla and was very happy with it - I also tried a margarita which was quite tasty. We definitely will be going back to try other dishes. Being a short walk from 34 Crooke, this might become a regular place for us.
Next to Cafe Enduro is K-DOG AND DUNEBUGGY. We didn't try this place yet but it just so happens that there is a review today on
BROWNSTONER.
After lunch we walked over to the park and got coffee and some hot spiced cider at the
SONGBIRD CAFE in the Boathouse. It was a great day to walk in the park and that's just what we did. We meandered through the park slowly making our way up to Grand Army Plaza and were reminded once again how nice it will be to live so close to the park.
