EAT SOMETHING!

I thought the Flatbush Food Co-Op was going to redesign it's website... I guess these things take time but come on - this DOES need a new look. Have YOU been to the Flatbush Food Co-Op yet? WHY NOT!

The Cortelyou Greenmarket will open May 3rd (not this Sunday - NEXT SUNDAY...) - it will be open every Sunday from 8AM to 4PM until November - Cortelyou Rd. at Rugby Rd.

You can't wait until May 3rd? So go to the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket - it's open every Saturday from 8AM to 4PM ALL YEAR LONG! - Prospect Park West and Flatbush Ave.

SOME MUSIC NEWS

I've always liked THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS. The Brooklyn Paper reports today that they will have a "free family concert" in Prospect Park on July 11th. I think that means there will be lots of kids... I might go anyway.

If we can finally move-in, we'll be a very short walk from the Prospect Park Bandshell (about 3475 feet or about .66 miles to be exact...) To see more about other concerts happening there this summer check out the CELEBRATE BROOKLYN website.

In other Brooklyn Music news, you should check out the new album by McGINTY & WHITE - "McGinty & White Sing Selections From the McGinty & White Songbook" (A new album from downtown scenester Joe McGinty and tippling gadabout Ward White) They will be performing TONIGHT (but not in Brooklyn...)

OPEN HOUSE REPORT

Could it be true? Could 34 Crooke really be almost done? We stopped by yesterday for the open house and saw that among other things - the gym equipment was indeed there (in boxes, waiting to be assembled), furniture was in the lounge (not bad looking either) and construction on the roof deck is underway. It was a bit of a shock - so much activity all of the sudden after seemingly nothing happening for months at a time. I'm sure the developer is just as anxious to close as we are. The biggest problem at this point, as has been pointed out by numerous people, is that there is still no gas. No gas meters, no hot water, no heat - nothing. It should be installed this week (I was told) but until it happens I won't be planning a closing date.

Here are some pictures from yesterday's open house submitted by a 34Crooke.com reader:

The roof deck under construction - hard to say at this point what it will end up looking like.

This is where the gas meters SHOULD be - let's hope it will all be finished this week!

Some of the lounge furniture - looks comfy...
